“During his stay in Algeria, Dubuffet made many gouaches and "peintures à la colle". It is difficult to confirm in a firm way if those lacks (where the white paint is removed to reveal underlying red background) were deliberate or not, but there is a series with the same kind of losses (see for example fascicule IV n°30, 33). And with a red background. If they were damaged, Dubuffet would not have donated n° 30 to the Musée des Arts décoratifs.
