In occasion of BIAF 2022, ML Fine Art is pleased to present two previously unknown panels, Annunciation and Presentation in the Temple, by the Murcian painter Pedro Fernández, one of the protagonists of the first twenty years of the 16th century in various parts of Italy, among the focal points for the evolution of the new language of the full Renaissance in the peninsula: Milan, Naples, Rome.
This important discovery will bring the panels to the Prado and Capodimonte, to be exhibited on the occasion of the exhibition The Discovery of the Renaissance: Spanish Artists in Naples in the Early 16th Century, organised by the two museums in October this year.
"These are two fascinating works, with intriguing stylistic features that are anything but obvious in the light of the artist's previous production, executed after his return to his homeland, first documented in Girona, Catalonia in 1519, where he remained until at least 1523".
